There are a few simple steps that can be followed which will help with the lifespan of your coating as well as how much time is spent cleaning the car. Start with a pressure hose and a foam gun with some PH neautral soap to encapsulate the loose dirt and debris after the car. After that use a PH neutral shampoo and a microfibre mitt to gently wash off any more stubborn dirt. Follow-up with a ceramic spray to boost the hydrophobics and acts as a sacrificial layer. It is recommended to visit your ceramic coating installer every 3-6 months for a maintenance detail and check-up of your coating.

Paint Protection Film (PPF) FAQ

  • Paint Protection Film, also known as clear bra or PPF is a thick and transparent film applied to the exterior surface to your vehicle to stop physical abrasion such as rock chips, scratches and other forms of damage. It is engineered to be self healing providing a flawless finish every time. It is commonly installed on high impact areas such as the front bumper, hood, fenders, mirrors and edges of doors to stop road debris and other hazards.

  • We use Xpel Ultimate Plus which has a 10 year lifespan with optimal care and maintenance. The cost of repairing paint damage caused by external factors makes investing in PPF a cost and time effective solution to retain the quality of your paintwork. This is particularly effective on hard to paint match vehicles, older cars or even new cars giving peace of mind your re-sell value is kept and you can decide to sell the car with or without the film.

  • Xpel PPF can be applied to any vehicle and having access to their software allows us to cut the film to virtually all makes and models of vehicles ranging from your daily cars like Teslas, Toyotas, BMW’s to your specialty vehicles like Ferraris, Ducati’s, Lamborghini’s. The film is designed to blend in seamlessly without altering the appearance of your vehicle. The only appearance visible would be any seams or visible edges on the vehicle which are almost undetectable from a glance. This is only visible due to the limitations of the film requiring relief cuts or un-tuckable edges.

  • PPF requires minimal maintenance to keep it looking it’s best. Regular washing is recommended to prevent build-up of contamination and any abrasive methods should be discouraged such as using a brush or going through automatic washes. As for removal, with the use of a steam or heat gun along with some patience, the film can be safely removed without causing damage to the underlying paintwork as it preserves the paint underneath.

  • PPF is engineered to withstand long periods of exposure to UV rays, extreme temperatures and other external factors without yellowing, discolouration or fading.

Furthermore, the self healing properties allow for swirl marks to heal when exposed to heat through the sun, motor or hot water. A ceramic coating can also be applied to the film for easier maintenance and longevity.
